Join us for a Title I School Improvement Council meeting by CLICKING HERE on Thursday, December 10 at 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM. IMPACT AID SURVEY FORMS NEEDED! Please return the Impact Aid Survey forms that will be sent home with face-to-face students and sent out electronically for virtual students. CLICK HERE for a copy of the form. Virtual Learning Expectations Cherryvale will begin virtual instruction on Monday, December 14 and will continue through January 21st as instructed by the District Office. Click here for the update sent out by the district. Determine a comfortable and non-disruptive place to work. Make sure the District-Issued Chromebook is connected to power and WiFi. Log on to the district-issued Chromebook BEFORE the start of each class session. Make sure the camera and microphone are turned on. Mute the microphone while not speaking. Be visible and appropriately dressed. Report any district-issued Chromebook issues to your school as soon as possible. Rest each night to ensure attentiveness during instruction. REACH Summer Arts! Dear Cherryvale Elementary School Falcon Family: I am honored to introduce myself as the newly appointed principal of Cherryvale Elementary School. Over the past twenty-five years, I have held multiple teaching and administrative positions, but I consider my most important position to be an advocate for the students of Cherryvale Elementary and Sumter School District. As some of you are aware, I served as the assistant principal of Cherryvale Elementary School from 2015 to 2018, so Cherryvale already has a very special place in my heart. I plan to spend a lot of time reuniting with some of the families of Cherryvale and introducing myself to others. Together, we will celebrate successes big and small because every child has a success story. The students of Cherryvale will be loved, encouraged and valued daily and reminded that they have a special place in our school community. My goal is to ensure all students of Cherryvale are happy, healthy and safe. I assure you that my educational background and professional experience will assist me in making that happen on a day-to-day basis. My preparation for the role of principal began by earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Clemson University, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Carolina Columbia and an education specialist degree in Literacy Leadership from Converse College. I have worked as a teacher and in instructional support roles on the elementary and middle school levels for seventeen years and as an administrator on the elementary level for eight years. I have experienced success in leading schools that are very similar to Cherryvale to levels of academic excellence. It is my intent to bring that same success to Cherryvale as we focus on raising student achievement through a rigorous and comprehensive instructional model that is aligned to the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Again, I am honored to be selected to lead Cherryvale Elementary School as principal. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Dr. Penelope Martin-Knox, Superintendent, and the Sumter School District Board of Trustees for entrusting me to lead such a wonderful school community.
